Frequently asked questions.

  • Do you take insurance?

At this time, I am not paneled with any insurance companies. In an effort to move as quickly as possible, I decided to forego that lengthy and cumbersome process in the interest of my existing patients. I will continue to evaluate the costs and benefits of working with insurance companies moving forward.

  • What conditions do you treat?

As a general psychiatrist, I am comfortable and have significant experience with most psychiatric conditions. I do not treat adolescents or children (anyone under 18 years-old except for rare exceptions). I do not treat dementias and may recommend older patients to consider working with a specialist but I don’t have an age cutoff. I am an expert in treatment-resistant illnesses. Recently, I have also been very interested in adult ADHD and trauma-related issues. Examples include major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia / schizoaffective disorder, PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder), ADHD (attention-deficit / hyperactivity disorder), DID (dissociative-identity disorder), and personality disorders (eg BPD).

  • What can I expect during our first visit?

You should expect to be treated with respect and dignity. I will ask a lot of questions and we will cover a great deal of your life in a very short period of time. I will explain my thought process around your particular diagnosis and answer all your questions. We will start the process of creating a self-improvement plan. If we decide to continue working together, we will schedule our next meeting. I’m very sensitive to cost and want you to feel that you are receiving a good value for your hard-earned money so I will do my best to give you options and discuss their various costs and benefits.

Many of my patients are pleasantly surprised by my therapeutic stance. I have intense optimism for their future and compassion for what they’ve been through in their mental health journey so far. Many are surprised (dismayed?) when I explain my skepticism about their previous diagnoses. I am always happy to explain my thought process and answer all your questions. I think my main job is to educate you so you feel empowered to make decisions. I truly enjoy watching my patients learn and grow and I’m also thrilled to learn from you and your particular experiences.

  • Do you conduct visits in-person or online?

At this time, we will only be meeting online.
